Contracted designers are responsible for bringing a small ladder, as BJ’s Wholesale does not allow for the use of their ladders.

Designer Billing   The completion form submitted for each store serves as a bill for services. In order for us to properly pay each designer, completion forms must be accurate, legible and complete. Any omitted trees should be noted on the form by a manager, otherwise the store will not be considered complete.

Completion forms may be submitted in the following ways.

Complete, signed, legible and clear forms received by midnight Sunday will be processed for payment the following week. Billing questions can be addressed here.

Tips and Tricks  The BJ's Wholesale project includes setting up and shaping up to six (6) trees per store, though there may be less trees at some stores. The preferred and expected trees are listed on the completion form. Please discuss any variations with the store manager and clearly document on the form the trees assembled and shaped for the finished display.

Store managers and/or employees will often communicate that the setup is ready for the designer. It is a best practice to clarify what is meant by “ready.” Asking these questions should help make the determination.

  • Do they have the artificial tress needed for the set (5-6)?

  • If the trees are already assembled, are they at the floor level?

  • If the trees are still in boxes, is one of each tree to be displayed easily accessible at the floor level?

  • Is the space available to display this set?

It is imperative to print the Action Memo and take it as a tool for the store manager to understand expectations about the visit. Although it is important to have the store manager satisfied with the finished product, it is ultimately the job of the contracted designer to perform outstanding service, including touching every tip of every branch to be considered complete.

The tree shaping project requires contracted designers to assemble each tree from the box, test lights and professionally shape each tree. At times, a store will set up and display a few or all of the tress prior to the arrival of the designer. It is still the responsibility of the designer to confirm all the proper trees are assembled, the lights are tested and each tree has been professionally shaped. If a designer is told by a store manager or employee that the trees have already been shaped, it is still the responsibility of the designer to shape them according to the quality standards outlined in the project overview.

Outstanding Quality Service – Bonus Cash  When you go the extra mile, we want to reward you! Every season we hear positive feedback about the top quality tree shaping and exceptional service our contracted designers provide. Each time we hear accolades from the Corporate Quality Control Team, the designer is entered into a weekly drawing for a chance to win $50 cash.

Contest Guidelines The Corporate Quality Control Team consists of Home Depot & BJ’s Wholesale corporate representatives, Merchandise Execution Managers, tree vendors, and Williams Creative Group office staff. Store Managers and other store personnel are not a part of this review team.

  • The name of the designer is automatically entered into the weekly drawing when a positive report is received. All feedback is verified.

  • A designer may have multiple entries in any weekly drawing.

  • All names entered will remain eligible throughout the season.

  • Winners will be notified via email and subsequently posted on the website.

  • A single designer may be eligible to win a maximum of two (2) times during the season. No designer will receive more than one (1) prize in the same week.

  • Multiple winners will be drawn weekly. The number of winners may vary.

  • Designers may not solicit a quality service entry from any Home Depot or BJ’s Wholesale employee, manager or MET Team member.

  • Please do not contact us about your status.

W-9   All contracted designers are required to submit a W-9.  Name changes require an updated form.
